Obafemi Oluwole Onashile an astute Nigerian professional Quantity Surveyor, is a product of the Federal Government College, Odogbolu (1975-1980) and the University of Ife, Ile-Ife (Now Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU), where he obtained his Bachelors’ Degree in Quantity Surveying (between Sept. 1980 – Feb. 1986).

He had brief QS career stints in government ministries before settling deeply into private practice from 1988 till date. After twenty years of practice as a consultant Quantity Surveyor he enrolled at the Unversity of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, for a Masters in Project Management (MPM) degree 2005-2007. His niche in Project Management is Turn–Around Management of ailing or failed Capital Projects.

Obafemi qualifies also as a trained PPP Specialist, Mediation Specialist and as a Construction Contract Arbitrator.

Obafemi has contributed immensely to the Profession at the Local Lagos state Chapter level as Chapter Past Chairman 2004 – 2005. He has also contributed at national institute level as Past President, The Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) 2017 – 2019. He was Vice President, AAQS West Africa Region for two terms 2011 – 2017 before becoming the current President, Africa Association of Quantity Surveyors (AAQS) 2020 – 2023.

 He established his Practice CONSOL ASSOCIATES in 1989 and in 2008, led the first successful M & A in Nigerian Construction Consulting Business by metamorphosing three small sized legacy firms into becoming a mega, new and improved CONSOL ASSOCIATES with numerous capacities and business sub-units. 

 He is the current Managing Partner of Consol Associates, with offices in 4No. locations in Nigeria and with registered offices in Kigali, Rwanda as well as an outpost in Accra, Ghana.

 Obafemi is passionate about innovations, the development of the youths and the environment in terms of Infrastructure and Health & Safety.

 He is a consistent volunteer for community services and a family person. He is happily married to his wife Olabisi and both blessed with two sons and a daughter.

David Gaitho is a Kenya based Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager. He received his undergraduate training at the University of Nairobi in the early nineties graduating with a degree in Buildings Economics. He later enrolled for a Master’s Degree in construction Project Management at the University of Liverpool

David is a professional of repute in Kenya where he was instrumental in transforming the professional association – IQSK. He served in the board for a period of 11 years capping it with Chairmanship between 2012 and 2014. For his many achievements in growing the institute and the profession he was awarded fellowship in 2015, and convened the College of Fellows

David has also been a council member of the African Association of Quantity Surveyors (AAQS) since the year 2008. He has travelled to many African countries advancing the objectives of AAQS. He was elected Vice President for Eastern Region in 2014 and three years later the President. He is currently serving this position with diligence until October 2020.David is also a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Institute of Construction Project Managers in Kenya (ICPMK) and member of project management institute (PMI). In his professional life he has worked for the government and private sector. He teamed up with colleagues to establish Amazon Consultants in 1998-a consultancy firm based in Nairobi

 Over the years he has executed construction projects across all sectors of the economy gaining invaluable experience. He is the Chairman of the National Construction Authority (NCA), a Government organization whose mandate is the development and regulation of the construction industry in Kenya. His vision of the industry is improved development control, safer construction, capacity building and improved ethical practices across the value chain.  David is married to Esther and they have grown up children. He enjoys a round of golf weekly and loves golf tourism across continents when time allows

Prof. Rob Pearl was born in Cape Town in 1951 and matriculated at Pinelands High School. He obtained his professional qualifications at the University of Cape Town and has been employed in the consulting sector of the quantity surveying profession since 1969.

He has actively served the profession on many committees since 1975 and has been an elected member of the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession for 2 terms of office. Rob is a past President of the Association of South African Quantity Surveyors. He has also been active in community affairs and is a past chairman of a prominent welfare organisation with 28 years of experience. 

He was employed as a senior lecturer at the University of Cape Town from 1986 to 1994, when he was appointed as Professor of Quantity Surveying at the University of Kwa Zulu Natal (UKZN). He took early retirement from UKZN at end-2008 and was appointed Professor Emeritus at that time. He remains active in academic circles. Prof Pearl has published widely and has been an appointed member of the Middle East, Near East and Africa Education Standards Board of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He travels extensively, including, in recent years bi-annual working stints in Singapore. He is currently the International Cost Engineering Council (ICEC) Region 3 (Africa) Director.

Rob is a keen sports follower, in his earlier years having played soccer at provincial and national (amateur) levels, as well as having achieved provincial recognition for bowls. He believes his most notable achievement is his marriage to Anne since 1976 – they have five children – 2 daughters and 3 sons, plus 2 grandchildren.

Alfred Aluvaala has served in various areas of leadership including Government of Kenya, social and community development, educational and professional positions across Africa.
He has worked and continues to serve as Secretary General of Africa Association of Quantity Surveyors. This is a body that brings together all quantity surveyors across Africa and my position is to co-ordinate all the countries that practice quantity surveying by calling for meetings of Executive, the Council and General Assembly for meetings in various African countries.
Before being elected as Secretary General, Alfred served as Chairman of Membership Committee of Africa Association of Quantity Surveyors (AAQS).

Alfred has served and continues to serve as Council Member of Africa Association of Quantity Surveyors. Alfred also currently serves as Vice Chairman of College of Fellows of Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK), a body of professionals in the built environment who have excelled and considered as sages in their fields.

Alfred was appointed by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development in Kenya and continues to serve as a Board member of Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors for the last four years and recently, in the same board, appointed as chairman of Members Welfare.

He has previously served faithfully as Treasurer of Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK). This is an Association that brings together all professionals in the built environment in Kenya comprising Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Engineers, Town Planners, Landscape Architects, Environmental Design Consultancy and Construction Project Managers in Kenya.

Before becoming Treasurer of AAK, Alfred had served for many years as Chairman of AAK, Quantity Surveyors’ Chapter; Vice Chairman of AAK, Quantity Surveyors’ Chapter; Secretary and Registrar of the same body. He has served for many years on the Governing Council of Architectural Association of Kenya.
In Kenya, Alfred has served on several secondary school boards where in recent one has served as chairman of School Infrastructure Committee.

Prior to all these, Alfred had worked in government in the then Ministries of Water Development and of Public Works as a quantity surveyor rising through the ranks.
Alfred took early retirement at age 40 years, a programme the government encouraged her Civil Servants to take and he ventured into private practice as a quantity surveyor, a position he continues to practice to date in Miradi Consultants Limited as the Principal Quantity Surveyor. QS Alfred Aluvaala is a graduate from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Arts in Building Economics, and later Masters of Science in Project Management from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.

He is registered by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS) and a Fellow of Architectural Association of Kenya.
